Senior Analyst (Secured Acquisition)

The Position

As a new Bank, we will be under internal and external scrutiny, meaning the Risk function will sit at the heart of how we deliver on what we promise to the industry and our customers. The Portfolio Management team will be responsible for all aspects of credit risk management for Cards, Loans, Mortgages and Personal Current Accounts. This includes designing and implementing credit management strategies to ensure that the Bank operates within its risk appetite and deliver on its impairment and risk weighted asset commitments. The Role

To design and implement credit management strategies that will enable Verde Bank business across Mortgage, portfolios to control lending risk, deliver sustainable growth and meet customer needs.

Key Accountabilities

-Responsible for providing analysis and insight into customer behaviour, credit performance and profitability in order to shape value-creating lending strategies within the Mortgage business
-Expected to identify and pursue opportunities that enhance the profitability and sustainability of the business and improve the risk-reward trade off, for example by improving the decision tools and processes used in credit granting, account management or collections
-Generation of key management information to support business direction setting and ensure Risk Appetite objectives are met will be an important component
-Senior Analysts will use tools such as SAS and Excel at an advanced level to manipulate and interrogate data
-Expected to apply commercial acumen to interpret their results and produce actionable recommendations.

Key Capabilities, Knowledge, Skills & Experience

-Ability to interpret complex data and apply advanced numerical techniques is key, and familiarity with statistical methods is expected
-Job holders will be expected to liaise effectively with colleagues within the team and across partnering business functions such as finance, marketing and collections and will be able to communicate their conclusions and recommendations persuasively to colleagues and senior management
-An ability to work on their own initiative, identifying areas of focus, with prioritisation of own workloads is necessary
-Good networking skills with the ability to build relationships and have an understanding of the broader business needs and issues
-Expected to lead, motivate, develop and appraise other team members.

Technical Capabilities

-Displays a good understanding of more sophisticated credit risk techniques and is able to apply these independently
-Uses in-depth understanding of technical areas - and broader awareness of other areas, to prepare and analyse credit risk
-Shows appropriate understanding of the different elements of the credit risk cycle in their work
-Uses more complex techniques in analysis and recommendations
-Measures exposure on accounting and/or economic bases and clearly understands the difference between the two
-Displays a strong understanding of Group's Credit Risk Policy and is able to write appropriate business cases/implement solutions to reduce risk/deliver benefit based on set parameters
-Able to identify the need for change
-Lead/deliver small scale/local change.
