Who they are
This client offers a broad range of corporate and investment banking services in the UK and continental Europe through its operations in London. This banking operation was launched in 2005 and has been expanding ever since.
The role
In this role you will be responsible for daily P&L repporting and analysis mainly for equity related derivatives products, but this can also include fixed income and structured products. You will work closely with the trading team and report into Finance and ensure consistent reporting of the traded products and correct valuations. You will also be involved in setting and reviewing limits, as well as trade approval and new product approval. The primary function is controlling the P&L and balance sheet bookings by substantiating completeness, accuracy and validity of all postings on a daily basis. Further responsibilities include reporting of trader estimates to Senior Management, month end financial close, reconciliations and Balance sheet sign off. You will also be responsible for supporting new business requests and be the point of contact for the front office and market risk and reconcile the daily P&L between the front and back office systems to understand the impact of FOBO breaks and resolve where necessary. Within the role it will be necessary to develop an appreciation of the diverse range of products traded by the business and understand the business activity in the entity to liaise with product controllers ensure compliance.
What they require
They are looking for a Qualified Accountant with a strong academic background or equivalent work experience. You must have strong IT/PC skills and an extensive product knowledge and product control experience, preferably gained within an investment bank. You should also have a flexible attitude to work the hours necessary to fulfil the requirements of the role and show a good commercial awareness with a range of high level inter-personal skills.
