Purpose of Role: To maintain and improve Regulatory Risk standards, and increase awareness of key regulatory issues and initiatives across allocated business areas of Corporate Banking Division.

Regulatory Risk Deliverables


• Provide timely and accurate written and/or verbal guidance in relation to Regulatory Risk matters to the business, including personal account share dealing, conflicts management issues and matters relevant to FSA Approved Persons, and in relation to proposed and current transactions.

• Assess new products, process and organisational changes to evaluate and advise upon the Regulatory Risk impact.

• Prepare the front line businesses for new regulation, to ensure they comply by the time of its implementation.

• Analyse relevant compliance indicators, e.g. in connection with the FSA's Treating Customers Fairly initiative, to assess performance and behaviour, drawing conclusions regarding, and querying, where necessary, identified trends

• Review the arrangements for attaining, maintaining and supervising of competence for staff in FSA regulated roles

• Design and deliver training presentations to increase awareness of Regulatory Risk issues within the business(es) covered

• Assess new products, material process and organisational changes to evaluate and advise upon the potential regulatory risk impact • Provide Regulatory Risk input into Group Notifiable Events.

• Help to support executive and senior management through regulatory visits, such as the FSA's ARROW programme

• In conjunction with the First Line Risk teams, implement and maintain an assurance framework to ensure that UK Corporate Banking and Large Corporate Banking comply with all Group policies that relate to Regulatory Risk.

• Provide Regulatory Risk input and direction to senior management, Risk and relevant divisional and Group committees.

• Help to develop and maintain the Regulatory Risk website. Anti Money Laundering

• Provide Regulatory Risk support to the Anti Money Laundering Policy Team on discrete projects, including risk assessments of new products, material process changes. or ad hoc queries from the business.

• Support to the Anti Money Laundering Policy Manager on discrete projects requiring the AML teams input, including: o Risk assessment of new products o Material process changes o Ad hoc queries from the business Experience

• Thorough knowledge of the regulatory environment pertaining to large, complex financial service organisations and specifically to corporate banking.

• Basic understanding of UK criminal law and FSA regulations relating to anti money laundering and counter terrorist financing.

• Strong and clear track record of achievement and delivery

• Financial service experience involving management positions in a financial services organisation

• Managing key stakeholder relationships at a senior management level, most notably in Corporate Banking and Group Risk Management.

• Relevant professional qualification, such as Securities Institute examinations, would be useful.

• Thorough, working knowledge of UK regulatory regime.

• Thorough understanding of regulatory risk management disciplines in Financial Services.
