Regulatory Risk Manager, Policy Advice & Guidance

An exciting opportunity has arisen to support the Regulatory Risk, Policy Advice & Guidance Manager and Director of Regulatory Risk & Compliance in providing expert subject matter advice to both the Central Teams and Businesses within RBS Insurance enabling them to identify, assess, manage and monitor regulatory risks in accordance with Risk Management standards. To also help embed regulatory risk management practices and standards within the division and business units through a process of communication, explanation and evaluation.

Requirements

1. Practical regulatory risk management, ideally in a financial services organisation / regulatory authority.
2. Strong knowledge of regulatory risk management and control appropriate to a financial services environment.
3. Experience of Insurance sector preferable.
4. Can-do attitude with a desire to provide resolution and drive for success.
5. Proven ability to manage projects with a track record of delivery.
6. Strong communication, interpersonal, teamworking and organisational skills.
7. Ability to think strategically whilst being capable of translating concepts into effective processes that get the right things accomplished in the right way within acceptable timeframes and budgets.
8. Influencing and conflict resolution skills.
9. Exceptional learning agility.
10. Ability to demonstrate decisiveness and sound judgement on a consistent basis.
11. Demonstrable commitment to personal and career development.

Responsibilities

1. Using information (e.g. regulatory risk reporting, upstream risk etc) to analyse and challenge business on regulatory risk exposure;
2. Provide specialist regulatory risk input to project work across the business.
3. Provide guidance and input to business on regulatory risk management practices and standards and their monitoring, analysis, reporting and communication.
4. Provide rule interpretation and guidance on application of policies.
5. Advise on appropriate remedial action following regulatory breaches.
6. Promote best practice in regulatory risk and risk management more generally.
7. Maintain effective relationships across Division.
8. Pull together appropriate information to enable senior management to make risk based commercial decisions and operate effectively within an acceptable risk appetite.
9. Potential line management responsibilities to include setting appraisals and objectives, developing career plans and determining performance grading
