With this in mind Oxfam have created a new role to meet this challenge.
The Role
As Loss Prevention Manager you will develop and deliver a strategy and framework for counter fraud activity across all of Oxfam’s operations – international development and humanitarian programmes, fundraising, and the large retail element. Leading and inspiring a dedicated team of Counter Fraud professionals, plus a wider global “virtual team” of trained staff you will drive the programme to minimise loss, ranging from shoplifting in UK shops through to theft and fraud in operations as far apart as Afghanistan through to Zambia. Reporting to Head of Internal Audit. Key responsibilities include:-
• Design and deliver a counter fraud strategy, with the express purpose of reducing losses from irregularities, fraud and theft
• Ensure effective anti-fraud and corruption policies and procedures exist
• Develop training and support tools / guides for loss reduction
• Manage the fraud prevention team and run a global ‘virtual team’ of trained loss investigators
• Provide loss reduction advice to the management team
The person
To make an impact in this role you must demonstrate:
• Experience of loss reduction management frameworks and approaches, preferably within a high volume, multi-site environment
• Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills. The ability to influence those at all levels within the organisation is critical to success in this role
• A logical, systematic and analytical thinker who works well towards organisational goals
• A result focused approach that will really add value
• Ability to travel overseas is essential
