This is evident in the new credit risk function, which under the direction of an inspiring Chief Risk Officer is about to embark on a recruitment drive to hire talented and motivated risk professionals to help drive analytical rigour into the business to support our ambitious growth plans.
Job Purpose
• To drive analytical rigour into the lending business to support profitable business growth.
• To ensure credit losses are within the business operating plan and that the risk / reward balance is maintained throughout the credit lifecycle.
Key Accountabilities
GENERIC
Understand and communicate the impact / analysis of risk strategy changes to management.
Provide support and expert advice to SBUs where queries arise regarding risk strategies in place.
Production and interpretation of credit risk management information to monitor the impact of risk decisions on customer and portfolio behaviour.
Build and maintain good working relationships with key stakeholders / 3rd parties and provide relevant support and expertise.
SCORING AND MODELLING
Develop and monitor risk scorecards eg application, behavioural and bankruptcy.
Develop analytical models to support a champion / challenger risk strategy framework.
RISK ANALYTICS
Build and develop models to forecast delinquency and impairment losses.
Liason with finance in calculation and reporting of credit losses ( provisions, write offs).
Production and development of timely risk management information for distribution to executive committee.

Knowledge and Expertise
Essential
Knowledge of appropriate legislative and regulatory framework.
Sound knowledge of credit risk.
Good verbal and written communication skills, particularly in context of presenting complex analytical results to non technical colleagues at all levels.).
Good relationship building skills with the ability to influence at all levels
Strong personal time management and project management skills.
Ability to manipulate data and analyse databases.
• Ability to build scorecards and statistical models to develop strategy / solve problems.
• Highly numerate, degree qualified ( statistical degree for modelling roles).
Preferred
Broad commercial interests and awareness.
Experience in tools such as SAS / SQL or similar programming languages.
