This is a highly challenging and exciting role within the Global Retail and Commercial Bank. A newly created function, GRCB Capital Management, will take primary responsibility for the measurement and management of regulatory capital, economic capital and economic profit. This team builds on the existing capability that has been built within the Barclays Commercial Bank Portfolio Management team, whilst developing a distinct identity as a pan-GRCB function.

The jobholder will be part of a dynamic team that seek to determine the overall shape of the asset portfolio, ensuring that chosen strategies optimise the balance of risk and reward and maximize shareholder value. The proactive and innovative risk portfolio management approach adopted informs and drives key business decisions, creating value across the different parts of the organisation. Increasingly, we are seeking to actively manage the portfolio and increase the distribution of risk to market investors. This strategy meets a range of business objectives, increasing returns on capital and capital creation, minimising loss volatility and supporting P&L growth.

The jobholder will, working in partnership with the other teams in GRCB Capital Management, support the Head of Capital Strategy in developing and implementing a capital management framework for GRCB. This framework will be designed to manage both economic and regulatory capital efficiently both at the GRCB and business unit level. The framework will inform how scarce capital is allocated, identify target returns for different asset classes and portfolio and enable optimal construction and management of the global risk portfolio.
