Future Leaders Development Programme – Risk
Competitive base salary of £36,000, plus a joining award of £8,000

Within Financial Services, risk can be defined as the probability that a credit, market or operational decision or process could result in financial or reputation loss. Every commercial activity comes with a risk, and knowing which risks are worth taking in pursuit of sustainable growth is what plays an important part in increasing the value of our business.
The programme provides the opportunity to experience a wide range of roles and gain the skills that will make you an exceptional Risk professional and an emerging leader at Barclays. You will learn best-in-class analytical techniques that test and manage risk in all its different forms, and over time you will gain a valuable insight into the key drivers of profit and loss. Importantly Risk is not simply about understanding numbers and data; you will need to get to grips with the implications to the business, from a whole range of different perspectives – be it the business, the operations, processes or even people.
There are many different projects that you could get involved in. You could be supporting retail credit risk initiatives through advanced analytics and credit risk management. You could be leading credit risk management for cases up to £500k, which involves everything from identifying the customer risks to developing case strategies and presenting proposals. You could even work on product strategy and marketing spend optimisation; and provide analytical expertise for recruitment campaigns across Europe.
